WBM Wohnungsbaugesellschaft Berlin-Mitte mbH is building a total of 290 affordable apartments at the Haus der Statistik – half of which are publicly subsidized. The offer will be supplemented by cluster apartments for communal living and 17 commercial units.
As part of the Haus der Statistik model project, WBM Wohnungsbaugesellschaft Berlin-Mitte mbH is building a total of 290 affordable apartments. Half of these units are subsidized with public funds and thus offer people on low incomes in particular access to housing in a central location.
WBM is also focusing on innovative forms of housing: With cluster apartments, it is expanding its offering specifically for people who want to live communally yet independently. This form of housing appeals to various target groups – from older people to young adults or single parents – and contributes to social mixing and participation.
The state-owned company is thus responding to the growing demand for new, socially balanced housing models that enable both spaciousness and space-conscious construction. The aim is to create vibrant neighborhoods in which people in different life situations can live together.
The residential offering is complemented by 17 commercial units with a total rental area of around 2,500 m², which are intended to create space for local suppliers, community-oriented businesses and small-scale trade.
Completion of the residential and commercial areas is planned for fall 2030.
