The mission statement of the pioneering uses in the Haus der Statistik is based on the central values of inclusion, sustainability and a focus on the common good. It serves as a common basis for the development, use and design of the existing spaces - and ensures that, despite the diversity of projects, a common understanding and common aspiration is created.
The mission statement was developed in a multi-stage, cooperative process:
- through discussions with experts from practice and theory
- on the basis of extended research into reference projects from Germany and abroad
- in dialog with those interested in its use
- as well as through consultation and adoption in the Pioneer Committee
The mission statement formed the framework for the selection of pioneer uses and created transparency in the process. It also served as the basis for the development of the criteria for the allocation of long-term usable space for art, culture, social affairs and education, taking into account concrete factors such as financing, equipment, programming and social interaction in addition to content-related objectives. The aim is not for each individual pioneering use to fulfill all aspects equally, but to achieve a balanced mix overall. This creates a diverse, lively and community-oriented usage climate - supported by the different strengths of the individual players.
