Integrated workshop procedure

With the “integrated workshop process”, KOOP5 has developed a new planning format based on dialog, openness and collaboration. Residents, planners, process participants and interested parties worked together to develop the urban design for the Haus der Statistik - as the basis for the development plan and the cooperative development of the neighborhood.

The process set new standards in planning culture: instead of closed expert discussions, the focus here was on open processes, diverse participation and continuous exchange. Planners, residents, process controllers and interested parties discussed together, developed ideas and helped shape the future of the neighborhood.

Through this close dialog, the planning teams repeatedly received concrete feedback from the urban community - feedback that made a decisive contribution to the quality of the design.

After four intensive months, the planning consortium Teleinternetcafe (Berlin) and Treibhaus Landschaftsarchitektur (Hamburg) came out on top with their design. The resulting area program still forms the basis of the district's development today:
