The opening of our event series Reforesting the Imaginary, maiz brasil and Co-making matters invite you to gather for a day of art, dialogue, and shared food – to reforest the imaginary and explore resistance rooted in land and memory.
Reforesting the Imaginary – Opening Gathering
maiz brasil and Co-Making Matters invite you to a day of art, food, and collective reflection on land, art, memory, and resistance.
We begin with “A terra é tudo, tudo é terra” a photo and audio installation by Philipp Lemmerich that sheds light on struggles for food sovereignty, cultural recognition, reforestation, and sustainable agriculture in Brasil. From there, at 3 pm join a feminist linocut activity workshop led by Frauen machen Druck, where we carve resistance into print.
In the spirit of barriga cheia, coração contente (full belly, happy heart), we’ll gather at 5 pm around a Vegan Feijoada, a communal meal open to all, pay what you can.
At 6 pm, artists and activists Lilly Baniwa and Olinda Tupinambá join the curator and scholar Juliana Streva for a conversation on the role of art in socio-ecological struggles, and the vital force of conviviality in resistance.

Reflorestar o Imaginário – Encontro de Abertura maiz brasil e Co-Making Matters convidam-no para um dia de arte, gastronomia e reflexão coletiva sobre a terra, a arte, a memória e a resistência.
Começaremos por “A terra é tudo, tudo é terra”, uma instalação fotográfica e sonora de Philipp Lemmerich que lança luz sobre as lutas pela soberania alimentar, reconhecimento cultural, reflorestação e agricultura sustentável no Brasil. A partir daí, às 15h00, participe num workshop de atividades feministas em xilogravura, liderado pela Women Make Print, onde esculpimos resistência na impressão.
No espírito de barriga cheia, coração contente, reunir-nos-emos às 17h00 em torno de uma Feijoada Vegan, uma refeição comunitária aberta a todos, pague o que puder.
Às 18h00, as artistas e ativistas Lilly Baniwa e Olinda Tupinambá juntam-se à curadora e académica Juliana Streva para uma conversa sobre o papel da arte nas lutas socioecológicas e a força vital da convivialidade na resistência.
