BESCHREIBUNG

english version

„Investment project Alexanderstrasse“ is the title of an interventionist soundwalk, that was produced in the year 2009. The walk deals with the developing area around Alexanderplatz. Where nowadays you can find a pink shopping mall, in 1945 the police headquarters of the Gestapo, called „the Red Castle“, was located there. And previously a so-called nuthouse. A memorial stone in front of the shopping mall recalls these parts of Berlins opressive history.

The soundwalk guides through the area with field recordings, sound collages and interviews with different theorists * on architecture and urbanism (such as with the construction manager of the shopping mall, a time witness during the GDR, an independent club owner in danger of gentrification and a voice mail of the „Office of Public Art“). Seven years later we will enter that urban space with the same audio walk but with shifting perspectives. Together as a group we will respond interventionist and performative to it.
