Imagine yourself in front of a framed picture on the wall. Nothing spectacular. But when you pull the frame gently, the picture snaps out of place and effortlessly swings open, offering a passage for you to enter. Once inside this chamber, you push open a second door and step into a dimly lit room, the air smells of coffee and ink. You can still hear the roar from the street; cars and buses, the chiming of church bells, distant chatter. But you’re out of sight, even when you drop the curtains to let the daylight in. A spacious hall built from red-brown bricks is revealed before you, with islands of bricolaged furniture spread across the space — a small library, a printing press, benches, tables, screens, and a kitchen on wheels. Before you know it, you’re joined by others. Welcome to the An-Akademie!
